Project Lionheart – The Beast Within
by admin on Feb.16, 2009, under Hobby and Fun, Toyota Supra MKIV
Well, after a lot of headaches around my Project Lionheart Toyota Supra, everything seems to be getting into their place properly.
I call it Project Lionheart : having a lion’s heart (2JZ-GTE, one of the best engines ever come out of Japan’s furnace) into an SZ MKIV Toyota Supra JZA80. Commonly known as Supra NA-TT Conversion project.
Let’s see what we have!
- Get a good base – Check! A 95 SZ with 2JZ-GTE already implanted in it. Decent price, decent kms. Less headache!!!
- Raise money – CHECK! Sold my previous Snowwhite Supra. *sob sob* Missing it already
- Overall check – CHECK! Passed WoF with flying colours. Problems are identified. Solutions are planned.
- Turbo system – CHECK! Sequential Twin Turbo rebuild by Soichi-San (ST Hitect, www.sthitec.co.nz)
- Fueling – In Progress! Apexi SAFC + Dyno tuning for fueling control
- Suspension – In Progress! I want to replace the old suspension bushings
- Exterior – In Progress! Custom car badge, refresh rear bumper paint job, at least 10 layers of wax (3 down, 7 to go)
Out of scope, at least for now:
- Transmissions (no budget! Let’s be happy with W58)
- LSD (no budget! Open diff would suffice for now. But will keep my eyes open :)
- Better engine management (HKS F Con Pro? Trust EManage Ultimate? etc?)
- JDL bodykit. They’re so pretty!
Project Update (holes on my pocket):
- Dent on rear left wheel repaired. 2-piece Works wheels cost a lot to fix!!! I wonder what the previous owner did?
- Radiator flused. No more rust! No more rust!
- Radiator reservoir replaced with proper one. Who the hell put that plastic drinking water bottle in the engine bay before?? (yes, of course it melt!)
- Starter motor fix
- Boost gauge + Air/Fuel Ratio gauge! So I look fast! (Not! So I know to turn off engine before it blows up)
- Turbo system refresh
