Project Lionheart – Lion’s Breath

My Supra twin turbo seems to suffer a boost issue where boost is lost after 3,800 – 4,000 RPM due to turbo #2 not kicking in. Also, there is a hairline crack in turbo #1 housing.
Just got word from Soichi-San (ST Hitec – www.sthitec.co.nz) he would get the turbos ready tomorrow.
We found out last week that Turbo #1 had the famous hairline crack around the wastegate port on the exhaust housing.
Also the car pulls boost fine until 3,800 – 4,000 and then loose boost. This mostly means EBV failure. Turned out Turbo #2 had a defective EBV valve actuator.
Turbo #1 held boost finely, and if it’s holding boost finely and the crack doesn’t go all the way through then it should be fine. But Soichi-San today found very nicely priced 2nd hand exhaust housing so we’re replacing it. Very happy! Very happy!
I think Turbo #2 actuator replacement was kid’s play for him.
I like Toyota Supra’s Sequential Twin Turbo system so much since it is different from most cars. And since this is a daily driven in-city car, I’d like as much low-down torque as possible please :) :)
My ultimate goal is reliability (1st) and manageable power (2nd).
