First you need an online presence, so better start to make a website
Make any website. It can be your standalone website with fancy domain name (www.yourname.com) or free ones (there are a lot of free website hosting around). It can even be a simple Squidoo lens page as long as people can find it, can read it, and most importantly can enjoy it.
Contents can be anything. Make a blog of your daily activity, tell us your life story, write about how-to on your hobbies, projects, information about yourself (curricullum vitae, portfolio, etc), or even a little business you have running.
Next you need to get found. Register your website on search engines and free online directories. Get linked from other websites, beg your friends (online and real friends) to link to you. Put great contents so people will link to it.
